What is it?

Municipality registration (Atestado de Residência) is your official proof of address issued by the local Câmara Municipal or Junta de Freguesia. You may need it for school enrolment, applying for a CRUE, or other procedures. This is also where you register a newborn baby born in Portugal. The process varies by municipality and is conducted in Portuguese.
